Carol the Cat
Carol has long been a guardian of Geek Culture in Charlotte. She served for over 14 years as the Program Director for ConCarolinas and helped launch the Carolina Renaissance Festival (and its sister festival in Arizona) for the first 13 years. She also is known for her fabulous crafting and ferocious literary appetite. Her fandoms include all things Hobbit, Doctor Who, The Walking Dead and skulls – lots of skulls.
Joey the GiddyGeeker
Joey started The Charlotte Geeks in 2008, the Geek Gala charity event in 2009, and the Muggles Market in 2016. She embraced her geekiness later in life and has been frantically trying to make up for lost time. Her fandoms include Doctor Who, Firefly, Marvel Movies (she’s catching up on the comics) and board gaming. I’m happy that my Dogg Catcher podcast app is finally serving me your episodes. it didn’t include episode numbers on the splash pages that show on my phone. Sorry I can’t tell you which ones I heard.
Please send the names of the two real estate listing services your realtor friend warned about. I know one was Open Door. The other was [something] Pad.
Probably it’s from being actually “on the short bus” that makes me so bad at names. I’ve seen that actor in Garth Marenghi’s Dark Place, and noticed he’s not the only one to go on to “The IT Crowd.” Also love “What We Do in the Shadows.” I have local friends who take care to tell me of these shows. I also recommend “Duckula.”
And listening in the shower, getting ready for “essential” work, you reminded me of a couple of things.
I found the game world for Battletech depressing. Only in the last few weeks have I learned that the world for Warhammer (at least 40K) is far worse. For personal emotional health reasons, DO NOT WANT!
And I still struggle against confusion over the whole cis/trans thing. Only this year did I learn that the wording includes the destination gender. So a “trans-woman” was born male, and a “trans-man” was born female. That means I got the communion wine thing backward. Properly I should have said “trans-blood.” Thanks, anyway, for granting that at least I thought outside the typical box.
And yes, “Bill L” is fine. My family spells our last name one way, and says it another, which generally means I hear the equivalent of fingernails on a chalkboard.
My family pronounces my name as rhyming with “Fill the-POND.”

Joey, I just read you’re a Doctor Who fan. I just checked, and among my Inktober drawings for October 2019 and this year, I did create three that feature Doctor Who. Instagram now strikes me as rude and pushy, and may only give you a few seconds to look at each drawing, unless you go to my page.
In Insta, I go by pastshelfdate.
Facebook is an endless fire hose stream of content through which to wade, so I don’t know if it’s worth looking, under my given name.
Twitter can at least be filtered, for my account, PastshelfdateJr (I had to restart, after being hacked.).
Everywhere, I use #inktober to identify my drawing posts. I hope you have time to look at them, and if so, I hope you enjoy them.
