Episode 178! Michael and Lindsay Stewart (aka Lord Mayor Bullfrog and Violet, Queen of the Gypsies) join us to talk about the opening of the Carolina Renaissance Festival as well as the TV shows and other happenings of the week. About the Carolina Renaissance Festival: (from their website)

The Renaissance Festival is a 16th century European style art and entertainment festival combining outdoor theater, circus entertainment, arts and crafts marketplace, a jousting tournament, a feast fit for royalty, and much much more. The 24th annual season opens in the fall Saturdays and Sundays, from September 30th to November 19th, 2017.

You can experience the clashing of armor and the thundering of hooves daily with full combat jousts at the King’s Tournament Arena.

Great live music has always been a feature at the RenFest and this year we introduce TWO new music acts. The CRAIC Show! (pronounced CRACK) is a high energy Medieval rock band blending roguish vocals, bagpipes, percussion and violin. The Reelin’ Rogues are a charming trio of high energy, acoustic musicians performing traditional Celtic folk music.

Chickspeare™ is an all-female Shakespeare Company that started performing shows in 1998 at (the now defunct) Johnson Beer Company in Charlotte, NC. While over the years they have become best known for their Shakespeare “abridging/fast-forwarding/rewinding” brewery shows, they have also produced numerous full-length productions including MacBeth, As You Like It, Twelfth Night, Julius Ceasar, and Winter’s Tale.

About Andrea King

(abridged version – go to show notes of episode 139 for more!) Andrea King is one part actor, one part director, and two parts craft beer. She has been a part of the Charlotte theatre scene since 2001 and since then she has had the good fortune of playing with many of the local theatre companies. Most recently, Andrea donned several wigs for Women Playing Hamlet with Donna Scott Productions.

Her first Chickspeare show was Twelfth Night over at Off-Tryon Theatre. Since then, she has been in two more productions of Twelfth Night, the latest one was also with Chickspeare at Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte. Some of Andrea’s favorite Shakespeare roles include Banqo, Laertes, Hotspur, Mercutio, Orsino, Sir Andrew, Dogberry and that one time she was pursued by a bear in A Winter’s Tale. Andrea has directed Romeo & Juliet: A Quickie and Comedy of Errors for Chickspeare.

Outside of the theatre world Andrea is a cat-and-dog mom, a desk-job worker, and an adult color-er with a full set of colored pencils.

Things to Note:

From last week: We have found out that “No! Not Timmy!” comes from the horror film Slaughtered.
We don’t have a link for an actual spreadsheet yet. But if Graham provides it, we will post it.
Giddygeeker mentally swapped Jonah Hill with Nick Jonas, not Nick Jones. Either way – it is wrong.
Giddygeeker did not have a petrified baby, she had a dermoid the size of one that we affectionately named ABE (Alien BabE).
Armie Hammer appeared in The Lone Ranger, aka Cowboy Indian Racism movie.
Just for the record, Tiffany, Carol and the Giddygeeker are women. Graham and Starneslord are men. Just because we seemed to discuss this a lot this episode.
Jake Gyllenhaal appeared in the film noir thriller, Nightcrawler (2014). The Nightcrawler we were discussing is a Marvel Superhero that is part of the X-Men.
Giddygeeker did indeed fall to the floor from laughing. She did not, however, make any of the gestures to which Graham alluded.
Giddygeeker apologizes in advance that this episode is not as well documented. Graham’s frenzy of segues confused her cancer brain.
